About this game
Bastion is a PC role-playing game centered on area exploration, combat and party setup, and character progression. Story beats, exploration, and progression resources support a longer campaign, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Characters, world building, environments, and music carry most of the atmosphere, while resolution, graphics settings, frame rate, aspect ratio, audio, text scaling, and hardware performance need to preserve action, state, and text readability together. The genre-specific limitation is that dense text, menu layers, repeated battles, loading, or language dependence can slow progress. Platform conditions also include OS and hardware requirements, installation media, patches, drivers, DRM and launchers, key binding and controller support, save locations, mod compatibility, servers, and era-specific OS compatibility affect the current release. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.

Windows PCAI review

Reactive storytelling and precise PC aiming lift compact action.
The original Windows PC Bastion sends the Kid through a world that rebuilds itself beneath his feet after a calamity. He gathers cores for a refuge while a low, expressive narrator reacts to things he does rather than speaking only between levels. Painted scenery and music turn a simple premise into a memorable journey. In combat he carries two weapons, a shield and a special attack, choosing close or ranged tactics and upgrades that change the behavior of each weapon. That limited loadout can sometimes feel restrictive, but quick stages get to the action promptly. Optional dream encounters add enemy waves and fragments of character history; different endings and New Game Plus give reasons to return. The direct PC review also identifies a genuine input difference: mouse aiming lets ranged weapons be directed manually, whereas the Xbox 360 version relies more on auto-aim. Keyboard and mouse work well, with gamepad support as an option. This evaluation concerns the 2011 PC release, not measured frame rates or present-day operating-system compatibility.
Strengths
- Narration, art, upgrades and concise stages work together.
Weaknesses
- The two-weapon limit occasionally restricts experimentation.
Who it is for: Players who value narrative within short action stages.
Play notes: 2011 PC build; no measured frame rate or current compatibility claim.
