About this game

Arthur to Astaroth no Nazo Makaimura - Incredible Toons is a PlayStation action game centered on puzzle, maze, or device solving, story, case, or mission progress, and movement and immediate actions. Stages build pressure through routes, enemy patterns, and changing objectives, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Animation, hits, camera behavior, and readable hazards determine whether feedback remains dependable, while early 3D graphics, pre-rendered backgrounds, CD audio, and full-motion video need to preserve targets and interface readability on a television. The genre-specific limitation is that camera behavior, collision rules, input mapping, and repeated ground after failure can raise the entry barrier. Platform conditions also include disc loading, Memory Card saves, regional video standards, digital or analog control support, vibration, and dedicated peripherals affect original-hardware use. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.

Inventive contraption puzzles, constrained by slow navigation

Arthur and the demons become performers in contraption puzzles rather than another side-scrolling battle. Placing objects, anticipating reactions and watching a chain of consequences make experimentation worthwhile; a failed arrangement can still clarify how the mechanisms interact. Colorful Ghosts 'n Goblins characters and jazzy familiar themes give this adaptation personality, while a readable board keeps the objectives visible. A substantial sequence of puzzles rewards patient investigation, although mandatory order makes it harder to select a comfortable challenge and the inter-level scenes add little variety. Pad control works but the cursor moves slowly, and opening the menu requires finding a corner mechanism. Optional mouse support and memory-card saving help. It suits deliberate puzzle solvers more than players seeking immediate action or unrestricted level selection.

Strengths

  • Cause-and-effect contraption experiments
  • Distinctive characters and jazzy music
  • Readable boards and mouse support

Weaknesses

  • Mandatory level order
  • Slow pad cursor
  • Obscure menu entry and modest interludes

Who it is for: Patient players who enjoy experimenting with contraptions

Play notes: Objectives are Japanese; saving needs a memory card and mouse use requires an optional peripheral.
