About this game

Army Of Two is a PlayStation 3 shooter game centered on combat encounters, area and route exploration, and aiming and shooting. Missions pace progress through enemy waves, routes, objectives, and weapon opportunities, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Aiming feedback, projectiles, hits, and danger zones need to remain readable, while HD 3D scenes, Blu-ray data streaming, surround audio, and cinematic presentation need to preserve action, state, and text readability together. The genre-specific limitation is that camera turning, aiming methods, dense encounters, and peripheral support can increase control pressure. Platform conditions also include Blu-ray loading, HDD installs, system software, DualShock 3 battery life, Move accessories, resolution and frame rate, and retired online services affect present-day use. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.

Distinctive cooperative aggro meets awkward shooting.

Army of Two on PlayStation 3 builds its shooting around a recognizable partnership. One mercenary draws aggro and enemy fire while the other flanks; cash earned in missions can change weapons and the attention they attract. That arrangement gives two friends a concrete reason to coordinate. The short, linear campaign does not find enough new situations for the idea, and a solo AI partner can make odd rescue choices. Detailed character models and weapon sounds give the action some weight, though sparse locations, repeated enemies and conspicuous health bars erode the atmosphere. Firsthand coverage tested both console versions side by side and found broadly smooth rendering. It also describes awkward close-range camera movement, slow aiming and repeated loading when modifying weapons. These interruptions matter more than a small visual difference between the builds. Players with a regular partner can enjoy the distinctive loop; those seeking polished solo shooting may struggle. Launch-era online play is a historical observation, not a present service claim.

Strengths

  • Aggro and flanking give partners concrete roles.

Weaknesses

  • A brief linear campaign and awkward aim limit appeal.

Who it is for: Cooperative shooter players with a regular partner.

Play notes: Based on 2008 PS3 testing; current online access unverified.
