About this game
Angry Birds Star Wars is a PlayStation 3 strategy game centered on battlefield assessment, unit or resource management, and turn or phase decisions. Missions add map constraints, new rules, and tougher opposition, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Maps, unit states, and action feedback determine whether complex situations remain readable, while HD 3D scenes, Blu-ray data streaming, surround audio, and cinematic presentation need to preserve action, state, and text readability together. The genre-specific limitation is that tutorial depth, dense menus, controller pointing, and long scenarios increase the learning curve. Platform conditions also include Blu-ray loading, HDD installs, system software, DualShock 3 battery life, Move accessories, resolution and frame rate, and retired online services affect present-day use. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.
Collected in series
Star Wars games offer many ways to step into a galaxy of rebellion, strange worlds and the Force. Across this broad franchise, different adventures put you behind a blaster, ask you to shape a character’s loyalties or let you learn the rhythm of lightsaber combat.
Angry Birds makes the birds’ feud with egg-stealing pigs a playground for experimentation. Slingshot puzzles anchor the franchise, while spin-offs turn the same comic rivalry into vehicle building and party battles.

Star Wars powers enliven the sling, though PS3 aiming feels awkward.
The PS3 release keeps the short Angry Birds pattern of aiming a launch, collapsing a structure, removing pigs and returning for a better star result. Star Wars abilities add a useful extra decision in flight: a lightsaber strike or blaster shot can target a particular part of the scene rather than merely following the original arc. Familiar places such as Tatooine and Hoth, together with playful character designs, make the crossover immediately readable. The underlying puzzle structure remains close to earlier Angry Birds, however, so the theme does more to refresh the mood than the long-term rules. Local cooperative and competitive modes mostly involve passing a controller and comparing results; they are amusing in company but not a deep separate game. Most damaging on this specific platform, the PS3 review finds DualShock 3 slingshot input clumsy beside the touch-based origin. Frequent small aiming adjustments expose that friction.
Strengths
- Character abilities create another decision during each flight.
- Recognizable settings and costumes give familiar puzzles personality.
Weaknesses
- The basic structure and turn-taking multiplayer change little.
- DualShock 3 aiming is less natural for fine adjustments.
Who it is for: Fans of the original physics puzzles and Star Wars characters who tolerate controller aiming.
Play notes: Assessment is confined to the 2013 PS3 release; store status and touch versions are outside its scope.
