About this game

Among Us makes the same group responsible for both cooperation and suspicion. Crewmates work through shared tasks, but concealed Impostors can imitate that work, sabotage it and kill crew members. In the spaceship setup, preparing the vessel supplies the everyday activity that the hidden opponents use as cover. Suspicious behavior can lead to a meeting, where players discuss what happened and vote to eject a suspected Impostor. Completing the group's tasks gives Crewmates another route to victory alongside identifying the hidden opponents. Discussion and voting time can be adjusted in the lobby. On Nintendo Switch, sessions support online or local wireless play, and the game can be controlled using a controller or the accessible touch screen.

8.2 / 10Nintendo Switch

Suited to groups that enjoy making cooperation itself part of the bluff.

Tasks create a reason for players to move and work together, while imitation and sabotage make those same actions open to suspicion. Meetings should appeal to people who enjoy explaining observations and testing stories, with adjustable discussion windows helping a group choose its preferred tempo.

Strengths

  • Shared work doubles as cover for deception, giving ordinary actions a social purpose.
  • Discussion and voting settings let a group choose how much time to devote to accusations.

Who it is for: Groups that enjoy bluffing, comparing accounts of events and deciding whom to trust while pursuing a shared task objective.

Play notes: Online sessions require internet access and a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership; local wireless sessions use nearby separate systems.

Movement and task work are punctuated by meetings, while adjustable discussion and voting time give groups some control over those pauses.

The overlap between completing tasks and pretending to complete them should make judging intent as important to the experience as performing the work.

The spaceship repair premise makes cooperation a plausible cover for sabotage, which can support the tension between shared purpose and hidden intent.
