About this game

Among Us is a multiplayer social deduction game about cooperation and betrayal. Crewmates complete tasks, observe other players and respond to sabotage, while hidden Impostors attempt to eliminate them without exposing their identity. Actions in shared spaces can become evidence or suspicion in a later discussion. Discovering a body or suspicious behaviour can lead to a meeting where players exchange information and vote to eject someone. Crewmates assess the accounts they hear, while Impostors imitate tasks, cause disruptions and use vents to blend in or reposition. Progress, testimony and voting connect communication with the result of each game.

Among Us

A strong structure for shared suspicion, whose best moments depend on a group willing to observe, explain and listen.

The tasks matter less as isolated challenges than as reasons to move, meet someone and later explain what happened. That turns ordinary navigation into material for an argument, while sabotage gives the hidden opponent ways to redirect attention. The design is strongest when both sides understand that a convincing explanation can be as important as an efficient action. It also makes the social group part of the game’s practical requirements. Friends who accept the same conversational rules can create varied situations from a simple structure; an uncooperative lobby can undermine that structure without changing any mechanical rule. The inspected PS5 accounts find the information and visual language understandable, with a smooth presentation reported by one reviewer, but some actions are less comfortable on DualSense than on the original input methods. This is therefore most appealing as a game arranged around people, with the console controls treated as a compromise rather than the main attraction.

Strengths

  • Everyday movement and explanations become useful material for deduction and deception.

Weaknesses

  • Group behaviour shapes the outcome strongly, while some inspected DualSense interactions are fiddly.

Who it is for: Groups prepared to discuss observations and follow agreed meeting rules.
