About this game

Absolute Supercars is a PlayStation 3 racing game centered on driving and route control, vehicle control, and route judgment. Tracks raise pressure through corners, rivals, and time targets, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Speed, track boundaries, and vehicle feedback determine driving readability, while HD 3D scenes, Blu-ray data streaming, surround audio, and cinematic presentation need to preserve action, state, and text readability together. The genre-specific limitation is that visibility, collisions, steering precision, wheel support, or loading can limit consistency. Platform conditions also include Blu-ray loading, HDD installs, system software, DualShock 3 battery life, Move accessories, resolution and frame rate, and retired online services affect present-day use. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.

A broad garage cannot overcome uneven racing and severe PS3 friction.

Absolute Supercars offers numerous cars, circuits and modes on PlayStation 3. Cockpit views and recognisable tracks give an enthusiast a reason to sample the garage, and a few car-and-track combinations can produce satisfying laps. The quality is inconsistent. Some vehicles understeer heavily, while opponents in identical-car races appear to have more grip and often miss braking points or collide. Tutorial guidance conflicts with its own scoring path, and strict lap invalidation can erase useful practice. Weak damage effects, blur and repeated engine tones do little to distinguish expensive machinery. The PS3 experience adds a more concrete burden: disc loads between races can last minutes, analogue sensitivity and layouts cannot be freely customised, and L3 is easy to press accidentally. The reviewer also reports a crash when exiting from the pause menu. Solo time trials with a carefully chosen car reveal some promise, but routine competition is needlessly exhausting.

Strengths

  • Large car and track selection supports exploration.
  • Some pairings produce enjoyable individual laps.

Weaknesses

  • Uneven handling and unfair AI spoil races.
  • Lengthy disc loads and rigid controls interrupt practice.

Who it is for: Racing enthusiasts willing to identify the few satisfying cars and focus on solo laps.

Play notes: Original PS3 disc account; long loading and a reported pause-exit crash are part of this version scope.

The car and track roster is broad, but punitive lap validation and awkward tutorial scoring turn practice into wasteful repetition.

A few cars are enjoyable, but inconsistent handling and rivals with different grip in same-car races undermine fair racing.

Cockpits and circuits provide context, while weak damage, excessive blur and repeated engine sounds flatten car identity.
