About this game

ABC Wipeout 2 is a PlayStation 3 action game centered on platform movement and landing judgment, movement and immediate actions, and enemy and hazard responses. Stages build pressure through routes, enemy patterns, and changing objectives, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Animation, hits, camera behavior, and readable hazards determine whether feedback remains dependable, while HD 3D scenes, Blu-ray data streaming, surround audio, and cinematic presentation need to preserve action, state, and text readability together. The genre-specific limitation is that camera behavior, collision rules, input mapping, and repeated ground after failure can raise the entry barrier. Platform conditions also include Blu-ray loading, HDD installs, system software, DualShock 3 battery life, Move accessories, resolution and frame rate, and retired online services affect present-day use. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.

A playful two-player showpiece is short and uneven on PS3.

Wipeout 2 adapts the television obstacle courses into Summer and Winter episodes with familiar announcer jokes and slow-motion pratfalls. In two-player mode, throwing objects at an opponent creates the sort of mischievous interruption that makes a gathering laugh. Alone, repeated knockdowns are less amusing. The seasons recycle a small number of event types, and most of the content can be seen in a single sitting. PlayStation Move maps forward speed to trigger pressure and jumping or ducking to gestures. A tutorial makes the scheme understandable, but pressing too hard during precise obstacles can start an unwanted run. A direct PS3 review also encountered a lift that failed after respawn and penalties from spawning into danger. The hosts lend personality, while modest graphics and music do little to extend the spectacle. It is best treated as a brief local party game rather than a durable solo campaign.

Strengths

  • Two-player interference creates social comedy.
  • Announcers and replays evoke the TV show.

Weaknesses

  • Few course types make the campaign repetitive.
  • Move misfires and respawn faults can feel unfair.

Who it is for: Players seeking a short, chaotic local contest with friends.

Play notes: Original PS3 Move release; precise passages can trigger accidental running and some respawns misbehave.

Summer and Winter episodes look different but recycle a few event types, and the campaign can be exhausted in one sitting.

Two-player thrown obstacles create playful interference, while repeated falls become more frustrating when played alone.

Host jokes and slow-motion wipeouts preserve the show’s humour, while sparse visual detail and a thin soundtrack limit spectacle.

PS3 Move motion can be learned, but accidental trigger pressure initiates runs and respawn faults can impose unavoidable penalties.
