Castlevania Symphony of the Night

Sony’s original home console introduced the PlayStation family through CD games, early 3D worlds and a controller design that evolved into DualShock.

PlayStation, usually called PS1 today, is Sony’s first home game console. It launched in Japan on December 3, 1994 and connects to a television. Its library helped introduce many players to three-dimensional racing, fighting and role-playing games. The smaller PS one is a redesign within the same generation.
Games are supplied on CDs, giving developers room for music, dialogue and cinematic sequences. The original controller uses a directional pad and buttons. Later DualShock controllers add two analog sticks and vibration, with support determined by each game. Two controller ports are built in, while compatible multiplayer games can use a Multitap accessory.
Progress usually requires a separate memory card; the game disc does not store your saves. Check the region of both hardware and software, and confirm how the console will connect to your television. The PlayStation Classic released in 2018 is a different miniature device with built-in games, rather than a replacement optical-disc console.
