About this game
WWF WrestleMania 2000 is a Nintendo 64 fighting game centered on move inputs, offense-defense reads, and character matchups. Short bouts use character differences and rising difficulty for variety, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make its immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Animation, hit feedback, and readable arenas create match tension, while 3D scenes, fog, textures, and cartridge audio need to preserve target readability within limited memory and television output. The genre-specific limitation is that button or motion mapping, move recognition, networking, and cpu behavior can affect balance. Platform conditions also include camera control, stick precision, Controller Pak saves, Rumble Pak support, Expansion Pak requirements, and four-player setup can affect original-hardware use. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features from other editions.
Collected in series
WWF games turn the wrestling promotion’s larger-than-life stars into opponents you can face in the ring. Strikes, holds and signature moves carry the spectacle, with different games favoring quick arcade clashes or more measured bouts. The roster gives each era its own familiar faces and rivalries.

Nintendo 64AI review
AI reviews are subjective assessments, not player ratings. See each review for its evidence and limitations.Published date:
Strong creation and multiplayer on a familiar, rough engine.
The strongest addition in the Nintendo 64 WrestleMania 2000 is a creation suite that lets players assign individual moves, not merely change a wrestler’s appearance. A direct N64 review also describes Road to WrestleMania, custom pay-per-views, belts and several multiplayer match types. Familiar grappling is easy to learn, with more responsive reversals making shared sessions enjoyable. Yet the underlying engine remains close to WCW/nWo Revenge, so it offers little genuine reinvention. Its broadcast presentation is the sharper disappointment: entrance music is severely compressed, supposed video entrances consist of low-resolution stills, MIDI tracks sound weak, and wrestler heads and crowd textures look blocky. Cage matches cause some slowdown, while created belts display as blurry images. This is a worthwhile option for players who value match variety and painstaking wrestler editing, not those wanting novel systems or lavish audiovisual authenticity. The assessment concerns the original N64 cartridge and does not imply the Game Boy Color version behaves the same way.
Strengths
- Detailed move editing and approachable modes.
Weaknesses
- Poor audio, blocky visuals and cage slowdown.
Who it is for: N64 wrestling fans who value customization.
Play notes: Original N64 game, not GBC.
