About this game
Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered is a PlayStation 5 adventure game centered on location exploration, character and object interaction, and objective or clue progression. Locations, objectives, and clues gradually open the main chapters, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Theme, character expression, and environmental clues need to support exploration together, while SSD streaming, 4K and HDR output, 3D audio, performance or quality modes, and high-density interfaces need to preserve feedback and information clarity together. The genre-specific limitation is that guidance, objective triggers, camera behavior, or dense text can create search and comprehension costs. Platform conditions also include install size, SSD space, patch version, DualSense battery life, visual mode and frame rate, online dependencies, PS VR2 requirements, and cross-generation version differences affect the current release. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.
Collected in series
Tomb Raider follows Lara Croft into ruins where finding a route can be as important as surviving a fight. Climbing, ancient mechanisms and archaeological mysteries anchor adventures that range from deliberate exploration to cinematic action.

PlayStation 5AI review

Clear preservation value with uneven mechanical quality.
The three journeys point in different directions: Egyptian tombs emphasise spatial exploration, episodic memories vary the scenery, and the darker urban story changes the mood again. The collection preserves these contrasts, but its games do not share the same mechanical quality. The sixth entry still has clumsy movement and combat, with an opening that tests patience. Updated art and visual switching deserve credit. Contemporary base-PS5 testing nevertheless finds texture pop-in and awkward modern controls. Remapping, interface options and quicksave help recovery without removing the underlying level-design friction. It suits players interested in the series’ changing ideas. Approach each campaign separately rather than treating collection completion as a reason to endure repeated control frustration without a break.
Strengths
- Contrasting settings and visual identities are preserved.
Weaknesses
- The sixth game retains clumsy movement and combat.
Who it is for: Traditional explorers interested in the series’ evolution.
Play notes: Historical 2025 base-PS5 test, excluding later fixes.
