About this game

The Saboteur is a Xbox 360 shooter game centered on combat encounters, area and route exploration, and weapon and firepower management. Missions pace progress through enemy waves, routes, objectives, and weapon opportunities, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Aiming feedback, projectiles, hits, and danger zones need to remain readable, while HD video, DVD streaming, surround audio, HDD installs, and television-distance interfaces need to keep action, state, and text readable. The genre-specific limitation is that camera turning, aiming methods, dense encounters, and peripheral support can increase control pressure. Platform conditions also include disc and HDD installation, storage devices, controller batteries, video connections, resolution and frame rate, Kinect space and calibration, and retired online services affect the current release. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.

A distinctive sabotage sandbox with limited stealth and mission variety.

The Saboteur on Xbox 360 makes occupied Paris a playground for destruction. Perks reward different actions, giving repeated attacks a useful sense of progression. Disguises offer a way in, but sustained stealth is unreliable, so the strongest enjoyment comes from shooting and sabotage. The city and countryside invite exploration even as assassination, escort, driving and demolition patterns begin to repeat. Its most distinctive element is color: liberated areas become vivid, making resistance visible in the environment. Contemporary 360 testing finds performance stable most of the time, though visual detail is unexceptional. It suits players seeking atmosphere and freeform action more than rigorous infiltration or constantly changing missions. This assessment covers the original 2009 base game.

Strengths

  • Clear rewards for sabotage
  • Color expresses liberation

Weaknesses

  • Unreliable stealth
  • Repetitive mission structure

Who it is for: Action players who value atmosphere and freeform destruction.

Play notes: Original 2009 Xbox 360 base-game scope.
