About this game
The Dishwasher Dead Samurai is a Xbox 360 action game centered on platform movement and landing judgment, area and route exploration, and story, case, or mission progress. Stages build pressure through routes, enemy patterns, and changing objectives, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Animation, hits, camera behavior, and readable hazards determine whether feedback remains dependable, while HD video, DVD streaming, surround audio, HDD installs, and television-distance interfaces need to keep action, state, and text readable. The genre-specific limitation is that camera behavior, collision rules, input mapping, and repeated ground after failure can raise the entry barrier. Platform conditions also include disc and HDD installation, storage devices, controller batteries, video connections, resolution and frame rate, Kinect space and calibration, and retired online services affect the current release. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.
Collected in series
The Dishwasher is Ska Studios' bloody 2D action series, built around quick attacks, evasive movement and revenge. Its rough, ink-like visuals give the fights a distinctive look as weapons carve through crowds of enemies.

Xbox 360AI review
AI reviews are subjective assessments, not player ratings. See each review for its evidence and limitations.Published date:
A deep, fierce XBLA brawler with a murky story and minor technical flaws.
The Dishwasher: Dead Samurai on the original Xbox 360 XBLA release is a fast and bloody two-dimensional brawler. Five weapons can chain substantial combos, and finishing weakened enemies at the right moment returns valuable health. Dodging or teleporting around grenade throwers and varied bosses matters more than mindless button mashing. Fourteen story stages, six difficulty settings, local drop-in cooperation and fifty arcade scenarios give its offline action room to grow beyond a single campaign. Guitar-style rhythm diversions become tiresome, however, and several magic attacks feel too similar. Dark hand-drawn imagery and grotesque bosses communicate rage more clearly than the vague, melodramatic comic-strip story. The direct Xbox 360 review praised tight response but noted occasional screen tearing in later stages and an awkward automatic guitar-controller choice when that accessory was connected. Those observations concern the reviewed 2009 build. Historical online arcade play and leaderboards do not prove that those services remain available, and a fresh XBLA purchase route has not been established. The judgment rests on its substantial solo and local content.
Strengths
- Weapon chaining and abundant offline challenges reward mastery.
Weaknesses
- Thin storytelling, stale diversions and occasional tearing reduce polish.
Who it is for: Players seeking challenging two-dimensional combat and local co-op.
Play notes: Current acquisition and online services remain unverified.
