About this game

Survival Kids sends you across islands on the backs of giant Whurtles, exploring, chopping, crafting, fishing and cooking as you solve challenges on the way home. Gather materials to make tools, then use those tools to explore. Cooking can boost stamina, and working together can make tasks such as bringing down a tree require less effort. The survival structure leaves out a hunger meter and inventory management, keeping the recurring actions centered on materials, tools and island obstacles. You can share one Nintendo Switch 2 with another player in split-screen co-op, or play online with a group of two to four. Online cooperation is with friends rather than automatic matchmaking and requires a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership.

7.1 / 10Nintendo Switch 2

For groups who want to share island tasks without hunger-meter upkeep.

Joint tree-felling and crafted exploration tools may give cooperation an immediate practical purpose. Omitting hunger and inventory management may suit players who want to focus on island challenges rather than upkeep systems.

Strengths

  • Shared effort can make helping another player directly useful within ordinary gathering tasks.
  • Crafting without inventory management may appeal to players who prefer acting on materials over organizing menus.

Weaknesses

  • Players seeking survival centered on hunger management may find the omitted hunger meter a mismatch.

Who it is for: Friends interested in shared gathering, tool-based exploration and survival without hunger-meter management.

Play notes: One-console split-screen supports two players; online co-op supports two to four, requires paid Nintendo Switch Online and has no matchmaking.
