About this game

SnowRunner puts off-road driving at the center of contracts and missions across connected open environments. You take vehicles through mud, flowing water, snow and frozen lakes, then expand the fleet through unlocks and customization. The task is to get the vehicle through the conditions separating you from the objective. Equipment gives preparation a concrete role. A snorkel helps with deep water, while chain tires provide an option for snowy ground. Choosing a vehicle and its upgrades therefore belongs alongside deciding how to approach the terrain. Missions provide objectives within the open world, and the journey can be tackled alone or cooperatively with other players.

8.1 / 10Nintendo Switch 2

For drivers who find the problem of crossing difficult terrain as interesting as reaching the destination.

Terrain-specific equipment makes preparation part of the driving problem, which may appeal to players who enjoy solving practical obstacles. Fleet upgrades and mission objectives give that experimentation a continuing purpose for those who value gradually expanding their capabilities.

Strengths

  • Upgrades tied to conditions give vehicle customization a practical role in planning an approach.
  • Cooperative play offers a way to make off-road missions a shared project.

Weaknesses

  • If uninterrupted travel is the priority, negotiating environmental obstacles may feel like a distraction from the destination.

Who it is for: Players who enjoy vehicle preparation, challenging terrain and working through driving tasks alone or with others.

Play notes: Year Passes are separate add-on products; the standard game listing should not be read as including every expansion.
