About this game
Saints Row 2 is a Xbox 360 shooter game centered on combat encounters, positioning and evasion, and weapon and firepower management. Missions pace progress through enemy waves, routes, objectives, and weapon opportunities, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Aiming feedback, projectiles, hits, and danger zones need to remain readable, while HD video, DVD streaming, surround audio, HDD installs, and television-distance interfaces need to keep action, state, and text readable. The genre-specific limitation is that camera turning, aiming methods, dense encounters, and peripheral support can increase control pressure. Platform conditions also include disc and HDD installation, storage devices, controller batteries, video connections, resolution and frame rate, Kinect space and calibration, and retired online services affect the current release. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.
Collected in series
Saints Row is an open-world action series about building the Saints into a criminal force. Create your character, drive across the city and take on rival gangs, with side activities that invite messy improvisation. Later entries push the mayhem into increasingly absurd territory, including superpowered combat.

Xbox 360AI review
AI reviews are subjective assessments, not player ratings. See each review for its evidence and limitations.Published date:
Its freedom and outrageous diversions carry a rewarding open world, despite occasional Xbox 360 technical roughness.
The Xbox 360 edition of Saints Row 2 quickly opens Stilwater and lets players decide which gang to challenge first, or ignore the campaign while customizing a character, vehicles and hideouts. Shooting and driving favor accessible arcade action. Insurance Fraud, flaming ATV races and Zombie Uprising are amusing distractions with tangible respect, money or upgrade rewards, so wandering the city rarely feels aimless. Mid-mission checkpoints make failure easier to recover from. Yet many story objectives still amount to driving into a fight and clearing enemies, while respect requirements can force detours before the next mission. The broad revenge plot is familiar; its individual gang episodes, voice performances and gleefully excessive tone are more distinctive. A direct contemporary Xbox 360 review observed occasional freezes, brief slowdown and confused allied pathfinding, although autosave kept that reviewer's progress intact. These are documented observations for this version, not claims about PS3 or every later patch. The score primarily evaluates the standalone offline campaign. Xbox Live cooperation existed at release, but the current state of that online feature was not verified and is not counted as dependable present-day value.
Strengths
- Flexible gang progression and generous customization
- Amusing activities that also reward progression
- Accessible action and forgiving checkpoints
Weaknesses
- Repeated drive-and-shoot missions and respect gating
- Occasional Xbox 360 freezes, slowdown and ally pathing faults
Who it is for: Players who enjoy anarchic sandbox freedom and varied side activities more than a sober crime story.
Play notes: Original Xbox 360 edition only; current Xbox Live access and later patch effects remain unverified.
