About this game

REANIMAL follows orphaned siblings searching for their missing friends and a way off their home island. You explore on foot and by boat, hide from creatures, and move when an enemy looks away. Progress also depends on cooperation: one character can remain at a door-opening button while the other goes ahead. The adventure uses a shared, directed camera. Its fragmented story extends beyond the main route through the places you discover. Play together on one console, or take the single-player route with an AI-controlled companion; the sibling partnership remains part of the adventure in either case.

8.0 / 10Nintendo Switch 2

A promising fit for horror players who want shared observation and cooperation under threat.

Holding a route open for a partner makes cooperation a concrete task, while hiding and choosing when to move can reward restraint. The fragmented storytelling is more likely to suit players who enjoy interpreting places than those who want every connection spelled out.

Strengths

  • Cooperative obstacles can give both players a tangible responsibility.
  • The shared camera can turn spotting danger into a joint activity.

Weaknesses

  • Fragmented storytelling may leave players seeking explicit explanations less satisfied.

Who it is for: Players drawn to stealth, environmental storytelling and a companion-based horror journey.

Play notes: Playing together on one console requires a compatible controller for each player.

Narrative material beyond the main path gives curious players a reason to examine locations, though it may interrupt a purely goal-focused approach.

The combination of partner-dependent obstacles and timed movement past creatures can make communication and patience more valuable than rushing ahead.
