About this game
Lost Planet 3 is a Xbox 360 shooter game centered on combat encounters, story, case, or mission progress, and weapon and firepower management. Missions pace progress through enemy waves, routes, objectives, and weapon opportunities, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Aiming feedback, projectiles, hits, and danger zones need to remain readable, while HD video, DVD streaming, surround audio, HDD installs, and television-distance interfaces need to keep action, state, and text readable. The genre-specific limitation is that camera turning, aiming methods, dense encounters, and peripheral support can increase control pressure. Platform conditions also include disc and HDD installation, storage devices, controller batteries, video connections, resolution and frame rate, Kinect space and calibration, and retired online services affect the current release. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.
Collected in series
Lost Planet centres on battles against enormous Akrid creatures and human rivals on E.D.N. III. Guns and towering machines give its action a distinctive sense of scale, with thermal energy and hostile environments shaping the struggle.

Xbox 360AI review
AI reviews are subjective assessments, not player ratings. See each review for its evidence and limitations.Published date:
A convincing frozen frontier and working Rig cannot fully offset repetitive routes and ordinary shooting.
Lost Planet 3 on Xbox 360 casts Jim Peyton as a thermal-energy worker rather than merely a combat pilot. His heavy industrial Rig blocks a large Akrid, grabs it and drills its exposed weak spot, giving those encounters a distinct working rhythm. Gunfights on foot fall back on familiar cover and repeated weak-point patterns. Messages between Jim and his wife, a family photograph in the cockpit and the isolated frozen colony give the journey a human reason to continue. Yet two reviews explicitly covering the Xbox 360 build describe repeated trips through icy tunnels, routine repair interactions and recycled bosses. Later stretches rely too heavily on the less distinctive on-foot combat. A stiff zip line and monologues used to bridge mission loading add smaller usability costs. Players who value character and frontier atmosphere more than varied encounters may enjoy the single-player campaign. Historical comments about multiplayer do not establish whether its service works today.
Strengths
- Rig blocks, grapples and drilling provide a distinctive work-machine loop.
- Character exchanges and the frozen colony make the setting engaging.
Weaknesses
- Repeated travel and bosses sap later momentum.
- On-foot shooting is conventional and zip-line movement is stiff.
Who it is for: Xbox 360 solo players who value character and cold sci-fi atmosphere over brisk pacing.
Play notes: This covers the original Xbox 360 campaign; current multiplayer service availability is unverified.
