About this game
Hyrule Warriors is a Wii U strategy game centered on story, case, or mission progress, local multiplayer or cooperative interaction, and battlefield assessment. Missions add map constraints, new rules, and tougher opposition, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make its immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Maps, unit states, and action feedback determine whether complex situations remain readable, while HD television output and the GamePad screen need to divide maps, status, touch input, and primary focus clearly. The genre-specific limitation is that tutorial depth, dense menus, pointer precision, and long scenarios increase the learning curve. Platform conditions also include GamePad battery life and range, shifts between two screens, loading, performance, and retired online and Miiverse services affect the current release. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features from other editions.
Collected in series
The Legend of Zelda is Nintendo’s action-adventure series, which began in 1986. Link’s journeys often bring him together with Princess Zelda and into conflict with Ganon in the land of Hyrule. Exploration, puzzles and combat lie at its heart, with a curious detour often leading to a new discovery.
Dynasty Warriors puts you inside the battles of the Three Kingdoms as a warrior capable of scattering whole formations. Sweeping attacks share the stage with battlefield decisions: which officer to confront, where allies need help and how to keep the advance moving.

Zelda-flavored crowd combat with repetition and Wii U friction.
The original Wii U Hyrule Warriors is foremost a Warriors game wearing Zelda characters, locations and useful items. Players capture keeps, hurry to defend allies and use tools such as bombs or the hookshot to expose large bosses. Character combos make cutting through crowds gratifying, and changing battlefield priorities add some tactical urgency. Most ordinary soldiers barely resist, however, and many missions ultimately return to taking another keep. A story campaign, Adventure challenges and progression systems give the base package substantial replay goals. Familiar characters, effects and energetic arrangements of Zelda themes establish a clear crossover identity, even if the music’s rock emphasis will not suit every listener. A direct Wii U review documents a practical local cooperative arrangement with one player on the television and the other on the GamePad. It also observes roughly thirty-frame play with occasional stutter when two views are active. This score is confined to the 2014 base release; later downloadable characters, 3DS Legends content and Switch Definitive Edition changes are not imported.
Strengths
- Character combos, battlefield priorities and Adventure goals.
Weaknesses
- Passive grunts, repeated objectives and co-op stutter.
Who it is for: Warriors fans who enjoy a Zelda crossover.
Play notes: Wii U base game only, without later DLC or editions.
