About this game

Fate/stay night REMASTERED follows Shirou Emiya, a young man who wants to become a Hero of Justice, into a conflict over the wish-granting Holy Grail. Masters summon legendary Servants to fight in that war. Your main activity is reading the visual novel and following its characters through the unfolding story. The narrative includes Fate, Unlimited Blade Works and Heaven's Feel, associated with Saber, Rin Tohsaka and Sakura Matou respectively. This edition is based on the PlayStation Vita release of Realta Nua, with HD visual presentation and a widescreen layout. The Switch version also supports touch input.

8.4 / 10Nintendo Switch

For readers who want to approach the Holy Grail War through its characters and separate story routes.

The routes give readers different character-centred ways to approach the same narrative premise. The revised layout and HD presentation are relevant to a game whose appeal depends on spending time with text and images.

Strengths

  • The separate heroine-associated routes offer a clear reason to explore more than one part of the story.
  • The widescreen layout gives the remastered visual material a revised presentation.

Weaknesses

  • Its reading-led format is a poor match if your main interest is directly controlling battles.

Who it is for: Readers interested in a supernatural conflict, Shirou's ideals and narratives organised around different central characters.

Play notes: This edition remasters Realta Nua; its fantasy battles belong to a visual-novel format.
