About this game

Factorio puts you in charge of building and maintaining a factory. Connect mining drills to furnaces and assembling machines with transport belts and mechanical arms, turning a collection of devices into an automated production chain. Keeping that chain supplied also means providing enough electricity and defending your machinery from hostile creatures. Research opens further automation technologies, while trains extend resource transport across longer distances. In the base game's freeplay, the overarching objective is to construct a rocket silo and launch a rocket. Reaching it involves developing the factory's production and infrastructure together: each new process needs a place in the network you are building.

8.4 / 10Nintendo Switch

For players who want detailed factory planning and are willing to learn its controller interface.

The unchanged base-game systems make production layout, power and research part of the same planning exercise. A radial Quick panel provides a controller route to tools, although players who rely on mods will encounter a clear boundary here.

Strengths

  • The base game's automation systems remain intact.
  • The Quick panel groups items and tools into a controller-oriented access menu.

Weaknesses

  • No mod support limits options for players who enjoy changing the game's systems.

Who it is for: Players interested in designing production networks within the base game's own systems.

Play notes: The original Nintendo Switch version does not support mods or the Space Age expansion.
