About this game

EA SPORTS FC 24 puts licensed football players and teams on the pitch, with PlayStyles giving athletes signature abilities that affect how they play. Squad selection is therefore about more than choosing familiar names: those abilities also give you differences to consider when deciding how to use a player. Ultimate Team provides a separate squad-building focus, combining men's and women's footballers in the same team. Evolutions offers a way to improve players, while Objectives add tasks and Squad Battles provides an offline match option within that mode. That offline match designation does not mean every Ultimate Team function works without internet. The Nintendo Switch edition uses Frostbite and does not support cross-play.

7.7 / 10Nintendo Switch

A fit for football fans who enjoy matching player traits with a personally assembled squad.

PlayStyles should encourage attention to what individual footballers can do, while Evolutions provides a development angle for squad builders. The appeal is strongest for players who enjoy adjusting a team as well as playing its matches.

Strengths

  • Signature abilities give player selection a mechanical consideration beyond familiar names.
  • Mixed squads and player development offer room to shape a personal team.

Weaknesses

  • The absence of cross-play limits its fit for groups using different platforms.

Who it is for: Football enthusiasts interested in individual player traits, squad construction and player development.

Play notes: Optional virtual-currency purchases can provide randomized items; multiplayer also requires a compatible controller for each player.
