About this game

Dying Light is a PC action game centered on platform movement and landing judgment, enemy and hazard responses, and stage objectives. Stages build pressure through routes, enemy patterns, and changing objectives, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Animation, hits, camera behavior, and readable hazards determine whether feedback remains dependable, while resolution, graphics settings, frame rate, aspect ratio, audio, text scaling, and hardware performance need to preserve action, state, and text readability together. The genre-specific limitation is that camera behavior, collision rules, input mapping, and repeated ground after failure can raise the entry barrier. Platform conditions also include OS and hardware requirements, installation media, patches, drivers, DRM and launchers, key binding and controller support, save locations, mod compatibility, servers, and era-specific OS compatibility affect the current release. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.

Vivid parkour and night survival, with uneven launch PC performance.

The original 2015 Windows PC Dying Light turns a zombie city into a network of routes to climb, cross and escape. Once movement skills open up, rooftop parkour gives pursuit a thrill that straightforward melee rarely matches. The day-night cycle makes familiar streets feel threatening after dark, and Harran’s skyline and nighttime ambience establish a strong sense of place. Its opening is slower and more cumbersome, however. Early weapons have little finesse, while the character writing and finale struggle to match the pressure created by the world. This is a launch-build judgment, not a verdict on Enhanced or Platinum editions. On the hardware specified by the direct PC review, city performance initially ranged around 25–35 fps; changing settings raised it to roughly 50–70 with remaining dips. Disabling depth of field resolved cutscene freezes on that test system. Rebindable controls and a field-of-view option helped PC usability but did not erase the need to tune settings. Players seeking traversal-led survival have the strongest reason to visit Harran.

Strengths

  • Vertical city traversal, progression and day-night tension.

Weaknesses

  • Slow opening, weak drama and launch PC frame dips.

Who it is for: PC players who enjoy traversal-driven zombie survival.

Play notes: Performance figures are specific to the 2015 review rig and build.
