About this game
Company of Heroes 3 Console Edition is a PlayStation 5 strategy game centered on combat encounters, turn-based tactical decisions, and turn or phase decisions. Missions add map constraints, new rules, and tougher opposition, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Maps, unit states, and action feedback determine whether complex situations remain readable, while SSD streaming, 4K and HDR output, 3D audio, performance or quality modes, and high-density interfaces need to preserve feedback and information clarity together. The genre-specific limitation is that tutorial depth, dense menus, controller pointing, and long scenarios increase the learning curve. Platform conditions also include install size, SSD space, patch version, DualSense battery life, visual mode and frame rate, online dependencies, PS VR2 requirements, and cross-generation version differences affect the current release. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.
Collected in series
Company of Heroes brings World War II battles down to the decisions made around a wall, a road or an exposed flank. You command squads and vehicles in real time, using cover and combined arms as destruction reshapes the battlefield.

Substantial tactics with controller friction and discontinued updates.
Company of Heroes 3 Console Edition brings cover, capture points and coordinated units to PS5. The Italian campaign map and North African missions offer different structures, while Full Tactical Pause allows players to inspect a battle and queue instructions before execution. Urban sight lines and destruction give those decisions a convincing setting. Controller adaptation requires patience, however: attack-move, radial menus and selection do not always behave as expected, and tutorial prompts can crowd the interface. A June 2023 PS5 test also noted small text, large-battle slowdowns and missing sound effects; these remain dated observations, not current measurements. Relic has ended further console updates while retaining play and server maintenance, so PC content parity should not be expected. It suits strategy players willing to plan carefully and learn the controls. Manual saves are useful safeguards, and cross-platform play or progression is unavailable.
Strengths
- Tactical pause supports deliberate planning
- Campaign structures and skirmishes provide variety
Weaknesses
- Controller commands require adaptation
- Further console updates have ended
Who it is for: Strategy players willing to pause and learn controller commands.
Play notes: Keep manual saves; no cross-platform features or current PC version parity.
