About this game

Capcom Fighting Collection brings together ten arcade games, with the Darkstalkers series alongside Hyper Street Fighter II, Cyberbots and Red Earth. Choose a game and character, practise special moves and combinations, then take those decisions into arcade play or online Casual, Ranked and Custom matches. Optional one-button special moves provide another way to perform attacks. The games offer different routes through that arcade format. Red Earth develops your character as you defeat enemies, while Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo turns matching coloured blocks into attacks. Training mode covers the collection apart from Puzzle Fighter, and Arcade Mode's Quick Save lets you return to a saved position. Between sessions, the museum gathers artwork, development documents and arcade music.

8.5 / 10Nintendo Switch

A promising arcade sampler for players who enjoy practising characters and comparing fighting systems.

The training tools and optional special-move shortcuts should make experimenting with unfamiliar fighters less cumbersome. Red Earth's progression and Puzzle Fighter's block battles offer useful changes of focus, although the latter lacks the collection's training mode.

Strengths

  • Practice tools and special-move shortcuts offer different entry points into the fighting games.
  • The museum gives players interested in arcade art and music a reason to explore beyond matches.

Weaknesses

  • Puzzle Fighter players do not receive the same dedicated training support as the fighting-game selection.

Who it is for: Players who enjoy learning arcade characters, revisiting Darkstalkers or moving between direct fighting and competitive puzzles.

Play notes: The alternative gem textures for Puzzle Fighter require the update that added them.
