About this game

Book of Unwritten Tales 2, The is a PlayStation 3 puzzle game centered on rule recognition, spatial or logical judgment, and successive puzzle solving. Compact stages add conditions and tighter constraints over time, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Graphics, audio, and input feedback need to support decisions directly, while HD 3D scenes, Blu-ray data streaming, surround audio, and cinematic presentation need to preserve action, state, and text readability together. The genre-specific limitation is that limited explanations, input recognition, repetition, or abrupt difficulty can stall progress. Platform conditions also include Blu-ray loading, HDD installs, system software, DualShock 3 battery life, Move accessories, resolution and frame rate, and retired online services affect present-day use. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.

Witty characters survive a cumbersome PS3 adventure interface.

The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 builds a lengthy fantasy journey around conversation, inventory combinations and a cast that enjoys parodying the genre. Players revisit locations as new objects or dialogue open further possibilities. Some solutions offer the satisfying moment of connecting distant clues; others give too little direction and invite testing every available interaction. The lively characters and self-aware humour are the most dependable rewards. They can make a stalled puzzle worth enduring just to see another exchange. On the reviewed PS3 build, however, the design's regular backtracking meets long room transitions, occasional slowdown and visual twitches. Direct character control can also select an exit when the player intended to inspect an object, adding another pair of loads. These documented frictions break up a story that otherwise has ample time to develop. The assessment is tied to that PS3 account; a later patch and present storefront access were not verified. Players who prize dialogue and patient exploration can find a rewarding adventure here, provided they tolerate its interface and uncertain puzzle clues.

Strengths

  • Character dialogue and parody keep the long fantasy story personable.
  • Inventory combinations provide the familiar rewards of classic adventure exploration.
  • The cast makes continuing appealing even after a puzzle has stalled.

Weaknesses

  • Several solutions demand repeated testing rather than clear deduction.
  • Long PS3 room loads and imperfect targeting compound every return trip.

Who it is for: Adventure players who enjoy dialogue, object puzzles and leisurely investigation more than smooth movement between scenes.

Play notes: Loading and control observations belong to a firsthand PS3 review. Later patch behavior and current storefront access were not verified.

The long adventure leaves room for its cast and jokes, but repeated returns to old rooms interrupt the narrative momentum.

Character interplay, parody and self-aware humour keep the fantasy world inviting, often carrying stretches where puzzle logic falters.

The documented PS3 build's long room loads, slowdown and imprecise target selection magnify the frustration of frequent backtracking.
