About this game

Berserk and the Band of the Hawk combines the manga’s dark fantasy setting with the crowd combat of the Warriors series. Its story begins in the Golden Age, following Guts into the Band of the Hawk and onward through a journey of revenge and new companions. Battles alternate between cutting through groups and confronting powerful Apostles. Guts gains access to weapons including his greatsword, arm cannon and repeating crossbow as the game progresses. Some characters can transform to strengthen their attacks, while animated-film footage and three-dimensional scenes carry the story.

Berserk Musou

Heavy attacks retain the immediate appeal of Warriors combat, but repetition and uneven handheld delivery weaken the adaptation.

Berserk and the Band of the Hawk is most appealing when Guts brings a huge weapon into a crowded battlefield. Unlockable weapons, stronger opponents and transformations give the familiar Warriors rhythm some momentum. Multiple story arcs and animated scenes also offer newcomers a route into the characters. Breadth is less successful at keeping the fighting fresh: similar clearing and advance patterns return across missions. On Vita, recognisable leads preserve the setting, while expressions, backgrounds and sound do less to carry its drama. Identified tests disagree about smoothness, with camera obstruction and bounded stability problems also reported. Fans willing to repeat crowd battles may enjoy controlling familiar figures, but the licence alone cannot make this a consistently polished handheld adaptation.

Strengths

  • Immediate impact from heavy attacks
  • Broad narrative adaptation

Weaknesses

  • Limited battlefield variety
  • Uneven handheld presentation
  • Historical visibility and stability concerns

Who it is for: Berserk fans comfortable with repeated Warriors battles

Play notes: Independent synthesis of official material and identified Vita tests, not our playtest. Model, patch and hours are unknown; historical faults are not universal current claims. PSTV-only touch-cursor issues are excluded from handheld scoring.

Several story arcs and film scenes provide context for newcomers. Familiar material offers fans less discovery, and narrative breadth does not erase repeated mission patterns.

Heavy crowd attacks, weapons and Apostle fights deliver immediate impact. Repeated battlefield patterns limit how long that foundation sustains varied decisions.

Recognisable leads retain the source’s identity, but Vita accounts describe stiff expressions, muffled audio and reused environments. Dramatic delivery is uneven.

Dimension

Vita reports differ on smoothness and record wall-corner camera obstruction, out-of-mission crashes or crowd-related drops. These bounded historical findings warrant caution about visibility and reliability.
