About this game

Ape Escape On the Move! is a PlayStation 3 shooter game centered on aiming and shooting, positioning and evasion, and weapon and firepower management. Missions pace progress through enemy waves, routes, objectives, and weapon opportunities, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Aiming feedback, projectiles, hits, and danger zones need to remain readable, while HD 3D scenes, Blu-ray data streaming, surround audio, and cinematic presentation need to preserve action, state, and text readability together. The genre-specific limitation is that camera turning, aiming methods, dense encounters, and peripheral support can increase control pressure. Platform conditions also include Blu-ray loading, HDD installs, system software, DualShock 3 battery life, Move accessories, resolution and frame rate, and retired online services affect present-day use. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.

Funny monkeys cannot overcome shallow rail-based capture.

The monkeys' absurd behavior and comic encyclopedia profiles remain the easiest reason to smile. Shooting along a fixed route and stopping to swing a net initially has a light arcade appeal, while collecting characters and chasing scores provides goals beyond completion. Movement cannot become free exploration, and limited tools and repeated structures soon reduce novelty. Later attacks require constant button-driven camera turns, making it difficult to identify which monkey will strike next. Precise gestures can deteriorate into uncontrolled flailing. PS3 play requires Move, and local cooperative minigames do not make the main campaign cooperative. It suits players wanting brief score-chasing and character humor, not those expecting the traditional series' exploratory adventures or consistently dependable motion-based skill tests.

Strengths

  • Comic monkey personalities and profiles
  • Collection and scoring goals

Weaknesses

  • Fixed routes restrict exploration
  • Limited campaign variety and length
  • Chaotic later camera handling
  • No campaign co-op

Who it is for: Move players interested in brief scoring and character humor

Play notes: Historical 2011 European PS3 Move edition of the 2010 Japanese work; Move is required, and current Asian testing is not claimed.
