About this game

Based on The World of Aluna comics, this action RPG follows a heroine raised in Spain who travels to South America to understand her heritage and restore the amulet entrusted to her by her mother. Jungles, coastal cliffs, and volcanic canyons frame encounters with creatures drawn from Latin American lore. Combat takes place in real time from an overhead perspective. Weapons, spells, and evasion work together, while three schools of magic offer different ability choices. Players also collect, craft, and trade equipment and other loot to shape their fighting approach. Digiart Interactive released the PS4 version in 2022.

An appealing mythological setting and comic storytelling cannot overcome shallow progression and serious documented PS4 input problems.

Aluna gives a familiar loot-and-skill action RPG an appealing setting drawn from Inca mythology. Mixing melee, ranged and magic trees avoids rigid classes, although the progression and crafting remain shallow. The shard-hunting journey can feel like an extended fetch quest, and sudden difficulty increases encourage returning to earlier areas for strength. On PS4, comic-style sequences and the protagonist's voice work communicate more personality than the ordinary in-game presentation. Poorly distinguished skill cooldowns also make reading readiness harder than it should be. The most damaging problem is practical: original-hardware accounts repeatedly describe delayed commands and combat interruptions, with even menus affected. Those barriers make its straightforward structure difficult to enjoy consistently. It chiefly suits players invested in the mythology or heroine, and the assessment describes documented 2022 builds rather than verified improvements in today's patch.

Strengths

  • Inca-inspired mythology and its heroine give the adventure a distinctive subject.
  • Mixable skill trees offer flexibility; comic sequences and the protagonist's voice provide personality.

Weaknesses

  • Builds and crafting lack depth, difficulty can spike, and documented PS4 input lag, interruptions and unclear cooldown indicators hamper play.

Who it is for: Players especially interested in Inca mythology, Aluna and comic storytelling who will examine the version limitations.

Play notes: Based on 2022 PS4 accounts; current fixes to input and fluidity are unverified. PS5 compatibility and PC behaviour are not scored.
