About this game
Akiba's Trip Plus is a PSP adventure game centered on location exploration, character and object interaction, and objective or clue progression. Locations, objectives, and clues gradually open the main chapters, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Theme, character expression, and environmental clues need to support exploration together, while the portable widescreen, UMD streaming, compressed audio, and handheld-scale interface need to preserve targets, text, and action readability. The genre-specific limitation is that guidance, objective triggers, camera behavior, or dense text can create search and comprehension costs. Platform conditions also include single-nub camera control, UMD loading and noise, Memory Stick saves, battery life, regional language, ad hoc requirements, and retired online services affect present-day use. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.
Collected in series
Akiba’s Trip mixes Akihabara street life with outrageous supernatural battles. Its main action adventures have you explore shops and side streets, then damage enemies’ clothing and strip it away to expose them to sunlight, with otaku humor woven through the action.

Inventive stripping combat and an unusual setting, still limited by rough action and menu restrictions.
Akiba's Trip Plus ties its rewards to an unusually coherent absurdity: remove an enemy's clothes, let sunlight defeat the vampire, and add new outfits to the collection. Recognizable Akihabara streets and eccentric characters give that joke a concrete setting, while fully voiced events add presence to conversations. Extra side missions, clothes and a demanding difficulty mode encourage repeated exploration. The action is less convincing: encounters can collapse into waiting for counters or using unblockable attacks, and being surrounded exposes the combat's awkwardness. Loading was improved in this enhanced PSP edition, but saving and changing clothes still require returning to the world map, repeatedly interrupting changes of plan. It works as a distinctive, playful experiment for players tolerant of rough action, rather than as precise fighting or seamless exploration.
Strengths
- Stripping, sunlight vulnerability and outfit collection form a distinctive reward loop.
- Fully voiced events and the Akihabara setting strengthen its identity.
Weaknesses
- Repetitive combat and awkward crowd fights combine with world-map-only saving and dressing.
Who it is for: Players who enjoy eccentric Japanese action, street exploration and outfit collecting.
Play notes: This covers PSP Plus, not a later remaster; the highest difficulty is severe, and historical patch access is not guaranteed.
