About this game
Sword Art Online: Last Recollection is a PlayStation 5 adventure game centered on combat encounters, area and route exploration, and collection and development goals. Locations, objectives, and clues gradually open the main chapters, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Theme, character expression, and environmental clues need to support exploration together, while SSD streaming, 4K and HDR output, 3D audio, performance or quality modes, and high-density interfaces need to preserve feedback and information clarity together. The genre-specific limitation is that guidance, objective triggers, camera behavior, or dense text can create search and comprehension costs. Platform conditions also include install size, SSD space, patch version, DualSense battery life, visual mode and frame rate, online dependencies, PS VR2 requirements, and cross-generation version differences affect the current release. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.
Collected in series
Sword Art Online’s games turn the novels’ and anime’s virtual worlds into RPG adventures with familiar characters. Explore areas, develop your skills and fight alongside companions, often in stories that take their own path. The setting changes the action, from swordplay and airborne battles to the firearms of Fatal Bullet.

PlayStation 5AI review
AI reviews are subjective assessments, not player ratings. See each review for its evidence and limitations.Published date:
Better team combat is held back by drawn-out fights and thin progression.
Last Recollection puts meaningful effort into coordinating its large party roster. Roles, defensive timing and chained skills make companion selection more than a cosmetic preference, and learning the systems produces recognisable teamwork. Character animations and returning faces give established fans another reason to engage. Some enemies nevertheless have much more health than behavioural variety, turning battles into repeated output rather than evolving decisions. Linear maps and routine fetch tasks do not sufficiently offset that repetition. The purchased-copy PS5 review reports fluid operation that helps continuous skill use, but smooth response cannot replace encounter or narrative refinement. This is most suitable for existing fans willing to study combinations, rather than anyone expecting a consistently concise action RPG.
Strengths
- Meaningful roles and skill coordination.
- Appealing roster for existing fans.
Weaknesses
- Overlong high-health encounters.
- Limited map and side-task variation.
Who it is for: Existing SAO fans interested in party combinations.
Play notes: 2023 PS5 base single-player game; later DLC and current online conditions excluded.
