About this game

STEINS;GATE ELITE follows Okabe Rintaro and the Future Gadget Laboratory in Akihabara. Their modified microwave unexpectedly becomes a way to send messages into the past. You follow the unfolding story and make choices that lead into different branches and animated endings, placing the direction of the narrative at the centre of play. ELITE gives this visual novel an animated presentation using material from the television series. WHITE FOX also created scenes the series did not depict, including material for character routes. Progress therefore means following the consequences of decisions through the story, while the edition's defining change is how those events are shown.

8.3 / 10Nintendo Switch

Best aligned with readers who want branching science fiction presented through animation.

Choices that change the story's direction can make following the experiment more participatory than simply watching its events. Newly animated route material is particularly relevant to viewers curious about scenes beyond the television adaptation.

Strengths

  • Different animated endings give narrative decisions a visible destination.
  • Newly animated scenes provide a concrete point of interest for viewers familiar with the series.

Who it is for: Players who enjoy following dialogue-driven fiction and considering alternative story outcomes.
