About this game

Doki Doki Literature Club Plus! begins with a high-school student joining the literature club and getting to know its members. Writing poems is part of that interaction: you select words that particular characters prefer, and those selections also contribute to unlocking hidden poems and side stories. The school-romance setup develops into psychological horror. The Plus edition expands the original story with additional tales about friendship and literature. Alongside the narrative, players can unlock game art, wallpapers and concept sketches. A built-in music player lets you assemble a custom playlist or repeat an individual track, giving the collected music a space of its own outside the story.

8.1 / 10Nintendo Switch

For readers interested in the uneasy meeting of character-focused romance and psychological horror.

Choosing words around a character's preferences can make the poetry interaction feel like an extension of getting to know the club. The friendship side stories offer a different subject to explore alongside the horror premise, especially for readers interested in the members' relationships.

Strengths

  • Poem-linked unlocks may reward readers who pay attention to the characters' preferences.
  • The separate artwork collection and music player should appeal to readers who enjoy revisiting a story's illustrations and songs.

Who it is for: Readers who enjoy character interactions and optional narrative material, and are comfortable with psychological horror.

Play notes: The publisher explicitly warns that this game is unsuitable for children or people who are easily disturbed.
