About this game

Rhythm Heaven Groove asks you to listen closely and press buttons at the right moment. Each rhythm game gives that timing a different action, such as bouncing fruit with a character's biceps. Original music and audio cues supply the beat; a demonstration mode lets you check the timing when the pattern is difficult to follow. As you advance through the single-player games, you unlock a magic adventure. Different rhythms cast different spells, and choosing the spell matters: water magic is effective against fiery monsters. There are also cooperative and competitive rhythm games for people gathered around one system, bringing the same attention to timing into shared play.

8.6 / 10Nintendo Switch

For players who enjoy listening precisely, with timing also serving spell selection and group play.

Assigning musical timing to unusual actions may make listening itself the main attraction. The magic mode adds a different decision: keep the rhythm while selecting a spell suited to the monster, rather than treating every successful input as interchangeable.

Strengths

  • The spell mode can connect rhythmic accuracy with a concrete choice of attack.
  • Cooperative and competitive games offer different reasons to share the beat locally.

Weaknesses

  • Single-system multiplayer is a constraint for friends who want to play together remotely.

Who it is for: Players who enjoy following audio cues and learning input patterns, including groups able to gather around one system.

Play notes: Multiplayer needs a controller per participant and uses TV or tabletop mode; handheld play is solo.
