About this game

Resistance: Fall of Man is a PlayStation 3 shooter game centered on aiming and shooting, positioning and evasion, and weapon and firepower management. Missions pace progress through enemy waves, routes, objectives, and weapon opportunities, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Aiming feedback, projectiles, hits, and danger zones need to remain readable, while HD 3D scenes, Blu-ray data streaming, surround audio, and cinematic presentation need to preserve action, state, and text readability together. The genre-specific limitation is that camera turning, aiming methods, dense encounters, and peripheral support can increase control pressure. Platform conditions also include Blu-ray loading, HDD installs, system software, DualShock 3 battery life, Move accessories, resolution and frame rate, and retired online services affect present-day use. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.

Inventive weapons and a convincing war setting support an excellent offline campaign, but official online play is gone.

Resistance: Fall of Man earns its place on PS3 through weapons that change how encounters are approached, not merely through an alternate-history alien invasion. The Bullseye tags targets for tracking fire, while the Auger penetrates cover and can create a protective barrier. Chimeran squads flank and use grenades to force movement, lending familiar dual-stick shooting sustained pressure. Ruined English streets, creature design and forceful gun audio establish a convincing battlefield, although Nathan Hale remains thinly drawn and the story leaves notable gaps. The offline campaign is substantial and supports local split-screen cooperation, with additional weapons rewarding a second run. Repeated common enemies, a sharp late difficulty rise and sparse checkpoints nevertheless erode some momentum. Crucially, the large official online matches described by launch reviews are historical: PlayStation now lists this PS3 game's servers as decommissioned. They cannot be counted as current value, and community-run alternatives are not treated as official restoration. Players seeking the campaign alone or with a local partner still have a clear recommendation; anyone buying chiefly for official online multiplayer should not rely on old reviews.

Strengths

  • Creative weapon functions and aggressive enemies keep combat varied
  • The offline campaign and local cooperation retain the main experience

Weaknesses

  • Character writing and plot lag behind the battlefield atmosphere
  • Late spikes, sparse checkpoints and lost official online modes narrow appeal

Who it is for: PS3 shooter players interested in inventive weapons and single-player or local cooperative campaigns.

Play notes: Official PS3 online service is decommissioned; historic player counts do not describe present availability, and community servers are not official support.

A substantial offline campaign and local co-op endure, but repeated foes, late spikes and the loss of official online play narrow its current breadth.

Inventive alternate-fire weapons and flanking enemies give otherwise familiar console shooting meaningful positional choices.

Ruined English environments and punchy audio sell the war, while a thin protagonist and narrative gaps limit its story impact.

The launch PS3 game ran smoothly, yet sparse checkpoints cost time and its official online component is now unavailable.
