About this game

Resident Evil 6 follows several playable characters through a horror story set in locations around the world. Combat combines firearm attacks with physical attacks, while dashing and dodging provide ways to reposition during encounters. You can play the campaign alone or cooperate with another player; certain missions also bring players together for larger online boss encounters. Character development uses collected skill points to purchase skills and equip them in sets. The Nintendo Switch edition includes the game's downloadable content and adds gyro control support. An Auto setting for action-button assist can clear some action-button sequences, giving players an alternative to performing those particular inputs themselves. The game brings combat movement, character development and cooperative campaign play into the same adventure.

Collected in series

Resident Evil follows people trying to survive biological disasters, combining dangerous exploration, puzzles and encounters with hostile creatures. Each game finds a different balance between fear and action, with fixed, over-the-shoulder and first-person perspectives changing how you face the danger.

7.1 / 10Nintendo Switch

Best aligned with players who want a horror campaign built around active combat and cooperation.

Firearms, physical attacks and evasive movement offer several ways to approach an encounter, which may appeal to players who enjoy managing a broad action toolkit. Solo and cooperative campaign options make the design relevant both to independent play and to partners interested in fighting through the story together.

Strengths

  • The combination of shooting, physical attacks and dodging can reward players who enjoy changing tactics during combat.
  • Skill sets and campaign cooperation can give players both individual development choices and a shared objective.

Weaknesses

  • Players seeking a small, simple combat vocabulary may find the range of attacks and movement actions more to learn.

Who it is for: Players who enjoy action-oriented horror, character skill choices and a campaign they can tackle with a partner.

Play notes: Ordinary campaign cooperation is for two players; four-player online encounters are limited to particular missions.
