About this game
Mirror's Edge is a PC action game centered on movement and immediate actions, enemy and hazard responses, and stage objectives. Stages build pressure through routes, enemy patterns, and changing objectives, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Animation, hits, camera behavior, and readable hazards determine whether feedback remains dependable, while resolution, graphics settings, frame rate, aspect ratio, audio, text scaling, and hardware performance need to preserve action, state, and text readability together. The genre-specific limitation is that camera behavior, collision rules, input mapping, and repeated ground after failure can raise the entry barrier. Platform conditions also include OS and hardware requirements, installation media, patches, drivers, DRM and launchers, key binding and controller support, save locations, mod compatibility, servers, and era-specific OS compatibility affect the current release. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.

Exhilarating rooftop movement disrupted by combat.
The original PC Mirror’s Edge is most memorable when running, climbing, sliding and leaping form one unbroken route across the rooftops. PC Gamer’s February 2009 Windows review describes how red Runner Vision cues stand out against the nearly white city, making both the skyline and the next foothold readable. Escaping police at speed creates a distinctive physical puzzle. Forced brawls and disarming enemies interrupt that flow, however. The story campaign is roughly six hours long and does not have much space to develop its premise; time trials and speed runs provide the stronger reason to return and learn a route. Mouse-and-keyboard input helped the reviewed PC jumps feel more manageable, and optional PhysX effects were available, but there was no manual quicksave despite frequent checkpoints. This score covers that original Windows version. It does not transfer the PC control judgment to Xbox 360 or import changes from later games. Players who enjoy repeating a demanding run for a cleaner line will find more here than those primarily seeking a shooter.
Strengths
- Physical traversal and visual cues make routes compelling.
Weaknesses
- Brief story, forced fights and fixed saves interrupt flow.
Who it is for: Players eager to master first-person parkour routes.
Play notes: Original PC edition only; Xbox 360 controls are separate.
