About this game
MARVEL ULTIMATE ALLIANCE 3: The Black Order puts heroes from groups including the Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy and X-Men into a shared fight against Thanos. You assemble a team and use its abilities in combat, combining powers through Synergy for stronger joint actions. Those combinations also matter away from enemies: some obstacles and hidden areas require heroes to work together. Team construction continues beyond picking familiar faces. Certain group combinations provide stat bonuses, while Ability Points and Ability Orbs earned in levels improve special attacks in the S.H.I.E.L.D. Lab. Equipped ISO-8 adds further effects, including stat and elemental enhancements. Team actions work in solo play, and up to four players can cooperate on one system, each with a compatible controller.

Nintendo SwitchAI review
AI reviews are subjective assessments, not player ratings. See each review for its evidence and limitations.Published date:
A natural candidate for Marvel fans who enjoy building a team whose powers work together.
Synergy and group bonuses give reasons to think beyond a collection of favourite heroes, which may appeal to players who enjoy experimenting with combinations. Attack upgrades and ISO-8 add decisions between fights, while shared-system cooperation provides a way to make those combinations a group activity.
Strengths
- Synergy connects team composition to both combat and opening certain areas.
- Attack upgrades and ISO-8 offer separate ways to adjust the team's capabilities.
Weaknesses
- Players determined to use only their favourites may care less for bonuses tied to particular group combinations.
Who it is for: Marvel fans interested in cooperative battles, ability combinations and incremental team development.
Play notes: Each multiplayer participant needs a compatible controller; online play additionally requires Nintendo Switch Online.
