About this game

Luca awakens trapped in a dark room, with blood on his hands and a demonic ritual drawing him onward. MADiSON places you in his first-person perspective as you explore, search for objects and interact with the things you find. Progress involves solving puzzles while confronting the ritual imposed on him. The instant camera is central to that work. It connects the human world with the beyond, and the photographs you take must be developed manually. Searching the surroundings and using the camera are therefore part of the same investigation. Randomly activated events and changing puzzles also form part of the game's structure.

6.9 / 10Nintendo Switch

Suited to horror fans who want investigation itself to become an uneasy act.

Taking and developing photographs makes seeking information an active part of the horror premise. The emphasis on searching and puzzles is likely to appeal most when you enjoy working through uncertainty rather than maintaining constant forward momentum.

Strengths

  • The camera gives supernatural investigation a concrete, recurring action.
  • Manual photo development can make revealing information feel more deliberate than simply receiving a clue.

Who it is for: Players interested in occult horror, close examination of environments and camera-centred puzzles.

Play notes: The premise involves a bloody demonic ritual; that subject matter is a meaningful consideration for players sensitive to occult violence.

Searching and puzzle-solving invite a stop-and-investigate rhythm, while random events leave some uncertainty around that process.

The camera links gathering information to an explicit action, which could give puzzle-solving a stronger sense of personal involvement.

The first-person viewpoint and dark opening room could make the ritual's threat feel close and confined.
