About this game
Little Nightmares 3 is a PlayStation 5 adventure game centered on area and route exploration, character and object interaction, and objective or clue progression. Locations, objectives, and clues gradually open the main chapters, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Theme, character expression, and environmental clues need to support exploration together, while SSD streaming, 4K and HDR output, 3D audio, performance or quality modes, and high-density interfaces need to preserve feedback and information clarity together. The genre-specific limitation is that guidance, objective triggers, camera behavior, or dense text can create search and comprehension costs. Platform conditions also include install size, SSD space, patch version, DualSense battery life, visual mode and frame rate, online dependencies, PS VR2 requirements, and cross-generation version differences affect the current release. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.
Collected in series
Little Nightmares makes ordinary rooms and familiar places frightening by seeing them from a tiny protagonist’s perspective. Its unsettling adventures combine environmental puzzles, hiding and escape, with looming figures and disturbing details telling much of the story.

Beautifully unsettling, but too familiar in play.
Little Nightmares III on PlayStation 5 splits its environmental puzzles between Low’s bow and Alone’s wrench as the pair escapes oversized, grotesque spaces. A direct review of the standard PS5 version finds the solo AI companion reliably handles its half of the work, making the two-character design accessible without a partner. Beauty mode also runs smoothly in that test. The original four-chapter journey is concise, but many chases and puzzle solutions recall the earlier games, so the new tools rarely create a fresh kind of problem. Its strongest achievement is presentation: the carnival, candy factory and warped scale preserve the series’ beautiful, unsettling fairy-tale horror. The lack of local co-op makes the obvious same-room way to share this journey unavailable. This is a well-made but conservative sequel for players who prize atmosphere over mechanical surprise. The assessment covers the reviewed PS5 launch campaign and solo route, not later DLC or untested online-session quality.
Strengths
- Haunting spaces and a dependable solo companion sustain the journey.
Weaknesses
- Recycled puzzles and no local co-op limit novelty.
Who it is for: Players who value eerie atmosphere over new puzzle systems.
Play notes: Original PS5 solo campaign only; DLC and online sessions were not assessed.
