About this game
Kangaeru EXIT is a PSP action game centered on movement and immediate actions, enemy and hazard responses, and stage objectives. Stages build pressure through routes, enemy patterns, and changing objectives, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Animation, hits, camera behavior, and readable hazards determine whether feedback remains dependable, while the portable widescreen, UMD streaming, compressed audio, and handheld-scale interface need to preserve targets, text, and action readability. The genre-specific limitation is that camera behavior, collision rules, input mapping, and repeated ground after failure can raise the entry barrier. Platform conditions also include single-nub camera control, UMD loading and noise, Memory Stick saves, battery life, regional language, ad hoc requirements, and retired online services affect present-day use. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.

Inventive rescue puzzles with awkward handheld commands.
Kangaeru EXIT, later released as Exit 2, is a rescue puzzler rather than a pure reaction test. On PSP, Mr. ESC must guide people through fires, water and other hazards, using the different abilities of children, adults, dogs and other companions to operate switches and clear routes. A direct PSP review describes a large set of stages whose combinations of terrain and helpers keep the central planning interesting. Strong silhouettes against vivid backgrounds make the danger readable and give the game an identity of its own. Not all its difficulty is productive. Helpers may need to be led almost to an object before obeying, while analog-cursor selection and several button combinations make simple instructions laborious. Some animations cannot be interrupted, and an occasional dead end forces a restart. Repeated cries for help also wear on the ears. Contemporary Japanese product coverage confirms the sequel identity; the quality judgments come from direct PSP play. Neither the first Exit nor the Xbox 360 adaptation supplies this platform score.
Strengths
- Companion abilities combine well with environmental hazards.
Weaknesses
- Cumbersome commands, occasional dead ends and repeated calls.
Who it is for: Puzzle fans happy to plan several moves and tolerate old controls.
Play notes: PSP sequel only; present access to optional downloads is unverified.
