About this game
Just Dance 2021 is a music and dance game built around following choreography. Players imitate an on-screen dancer, using the beat and movement cues to pursue scores. The base selection contains around forty songs with routines for different ways of participating. Songs can be chosen individually or through Quick Play, and cooperative play combines participants’ results. Kids mode offers songs and choreography designed for younger dancers, while Sweat mode records information such as time spent dancing. The older Unlimited subscription is a separate service, whose historical catalogue is separate from songs included in the base game.
Collected in series
Just Dance is Ubisoft’s dance-game series, where you follow an on-screen performer and match movements to the music. Each song brings a routine to learn, turning practice or a gathering with friends into a dance session; tracking equipment and multiplayer options vary by edition.

Just Dance 2021
A straightforward shared dance session has lasting appeal, but the PS5 phone requirement deserves attention before choosing it.
This edition works best when the aim is to share a short dance session rather than keep finding new reasons to play every day. Following a routine gives a group an immediate common activity, and cooperative scoring can turn improvement into something to celebrate together. The base selection of forty songs, together with Kids and Sweat modes, provides different ways to organise an evening without requiring the same ambition from every participant. Its value depends strongly on whether those songs and that kind of repetition suit the group. On PS5, holding a compatible phone is part of the arrangement, so preparing the device matters as much as making space to dance. Unlimited cannot be treated as a readily purchasable expansion today: Ubisoft ended new PlayStation purchases in July2024. Choose this edition for its base experience and device requirements.
Strengths
- Co-op, Kids and Sweat options give a group different goals for the same gathering.
Weaknesses
- The PS5 phone requirement and the end of new Unlimited purchases narrow its appeal.
Who it is for: Groups who like the base song list and can prepare compatible phones.
