About this game

HOT WHEELS UNLEASHED™ 2 - Turbocharged combines racing with moves that change how you approach a crowded course. Jump over other vehicles to reach a shortcut, or use a lateral dash to strike a rival or avoid a barrier. The racing environments include an arcade room, a dinosaur museum and a Wild West mini-golf course. The campaign gives those races and challenges a story objective: saving a city from attacking creatures, with animated scenes introducing the cast. As you play, earned coins let you acquire more vehicles. Purchased perks can be equipped and removed to try different builds, but each unlock belongs to its particular car. A track editor also lets you move from driving courses to designing them.

A promising fit for racers who enjoy aggressive overtaking and experimenting with individual cars.

Jumps and lateral dashes suggest racing built around opportunities to change position, rather than speed alone. Interchangeable perks could make preparation rewarding for players who enjoy testing a car, adjusting its build and returning to the course.

Strengths

  • Jumping toward shortcuts and dashing sideways can give players several ways to respond to traffic.
  • Removable perks offer room to experiment without treating every equipped build as permanent.

Weaknesses

  • Because perk unlocks belong to individual vehicles, players who frequently switch cars may find development more fragmented.

Who it is for: Players interested in shortcut hunting, contact racing and tuning a collection of vehicles.

Play notes: Nintendo Switch supports split-screen racing, but cross-play with other platforms is unavailable.
