About this game

Harukanaru Toki no Naka de - Iroetebako is a PSP strategy game centered on turn-based tactical decisions, battlefield assessment, and unit or resource management. Missions add map constraints, new rules, and tougher opposition, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Maps, unit states, and action feedback determine whether complex situations remain readable, while the portable widescreen, UMD streaming, compressed audio, and handheld-scale interface need to preserve targets, text, and action readability. The genre-specific limitation is that tutorial depth, dense menus, controller pointing, and long scenarios increase the learning curve. Platform conditions also include single-nub camera control, UMD loading and noise, Memory Stick saves, battery life, regional language, ad hoc requirements, and retired online services affect present-day use. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.

The attractive animation collection is more compelling than the puzzle's limited goals.

Iroetebako packages a falling-block puzzle alongside animation, illustrations and music from Harukanaru Toki no Naka de. Its playable centre is Gogyo Rendan: matching three blocks horizontally or vertically and building chains. Character choices change backgrounds and text, and scores trigger messages, but there is no substantial stage progression or illustration reward to sustain play beyond improving a personal score. This is not a new romance route or story sequel. The complete two-part OVA, new colour illustrations and familiar music offer more persuasive value for established fans, although the selection of older monochrome pictures leaves the gallery incomplete. Animation occupies a smaller PSP image area but was reported as clean and naturally animated. Autosaving reduces bookkeeping. The collection suits fans who want portable character memorabilia more than puzzle players seeking lasting challenges.

Strengths

  • The two-part OVA and series music make a convenient fan collection.
  • New colour illustrations and clean animation are attractive memorabilia.

Weaknesses

  • The puzzle lacks substantial progression and illustration rewards, and the gallery selects only some older pictures.

Who it is for: Existing fans primarily interested in the original characters, animation and illustrations.

Play notes: This fan-disc includes a playable puzzle, not a romance sequel; understanding the OVA benefits from familiarity with the original story.

The collection is broader than its puzzle and scores produce feedback, but it does not offer a new storyline or deep progression.

The basic chain puzzle is playable, but limited goals and superficial character variation give it little staying power.

Clean animation and appealing new illustrations preserve the characters' charm, while selective gallery coverage and reused puzzle art limit freshness.
