About this game
FIFA 07 is a PSP sports game centered on competitive sport controls, sport controls, and shifts between attack and defense. Matches, challenges, and tournament goals give sessions clear boundaries, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Players, venues, animation, and score feedback establish the match atmosphere, while the portable widescreen, UMD streaming, compressed audio, and handheld-scale interface need to preserve targets, text, and action readability. The genre-specific limitation is that opponent ai, control precision, multiplayer accessories, and period-specific rosters can affect consistency. Platform conditions also include single-nub camera control, UMD loading and noise, Memory Stick saves, battery life, regional language, ad hoc requirements, and retired online services affect present-day use. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.

FIFA is EA SPORTS’ football series built around passing moves, defensive decisions and the excitement of scoring. Across its history, careers, Ultimate Team and women’s football broadened the experience beyond individual matches.

Strong PSP football hindered by manager-mode crashes.
FIFA 07 on PSP asks for more deliberate football than a stream of automatic first-touch passes. Acceleration and turning feel more plausible, while the position and balance of a player affect passing and shooting. Successful moves therefore reward reading the field. Lapses by defenders and occasional goalkeepers that simply watch a ball pass still interrupt that fair contest. Manager mode offers board expectations, youth development and a visual simulation option, and the juggling and Wall Attack minigames suit shorter sessions. The management systems are engaging between matches but not especially deep alone. Improved player animations, changing crowd noise and commentary give this handheld edition a convincing match atmosphere. Its practical problems matter more: the direct PSP review encountered crashes during manager matches, slight input delay in local wireless play and much worse lag or disconnections online. A crash can erase season progress, so saving frequently is prudent. Those network observations describe the 2006 release period, not the present service or an unverified later patch.
Strengths
- Passing choices, manager goals and match atmosphere.
Weaknesses
- Keeper errors, manager crashes and historical network lag.
Who it is for: Handheld football fans willing to save a season often.
Play notes: PSP only; network findings date to 2006.
