About this game
Arcade Archives 2 RIDGE RACER recreates the original arcade racer. Choose a difficulty level, steer through the course and decide whether to leave gear changes automatic or handle them yourself. T.T. puts a rival car alongside the pursuit of a better time, while the included DX variant adds H-shift and clutch operation. The surrounding modes offer different ways to approach those races. Original Mode provides multiple save states and rewind, while the Arcade Archives 2 Time Attack mode combines times from consecutive race levels. The game retains its System 22 3D presentation and has no Network Mode for online versus or cooperative racing.
Collected in series
Ridge Racer builds its arcade racing identity around sweeping drifts and carrying speed through corners. Across its games, learning a car’s handling is central, while Unbounded takes a separate turn toward destructive street racing.

Nintendo Switch 2AI review
AI reviews are subjective assessments, not player ratings. See each review for its evidence and limitations.Published date:
Best approached as a place to refine arcade racing technique and pursue better times.
Transmission choices and time-focused races may appeal to players who enjoy improving a familiar run. Original Mode's saves and rewind offer a useful framework for practising mistakes, while the absence of Network Mode limits its appeal for direct online competition.
Strengths
- Original Mode's save states and rewind can make focused practice more convenient.
- Automatic and manual shifting let players choose how much gear management to take on.
Weaknesses
- The lack of Network Mode makes it a poor match for players seeking live online races against friends.
Who it is for: Arcade-racing enthusiasts who enjoy practising corners, managing gears and chasing their own times.
