About this game

Air Twister is a rail shooter created with Yu Suzuki’s involvement. Princess Arch fights the Vanguard invasion threatening her home, moving and aiming while stages carry her forward. Homing attacks, strange creatures and fantasy scenery unfold against rock-opera music. Progress depends on observing enemies, choosing targets and navigating dangerous spaces. Repeated attempts provide resources for unlocking weapons and upgrades, allowing the character’s capabilities to be adjusted before another run. Additional challenges such as Turbo and Boss Rush apply different rules to the same movement and shooting actions, giving players further ways to approach the game beyond its main sequence.

Air Twister

An inviting arcade ritual whose spectacle and progression outlast its limited moment-to-moment variety.

The most interesting decision is how much time to invest in mastering a run and how much to invest in making the next one more forgiving. Unlockable weapons and character upgrades give repeated attempts a purpose beyond simply reaching the ending. That suits an arcade game built for returning to familiar situations, but it also puts pressure on the shooting itself to remain interesting before the next unlock arrives. The fantasy setting and operatic music give those repetitions a strong identity. The limitation is that spectacle does not always correspond to a demanding decision: quieter stretches can feel less involving, and the inspected PS4 criticism of direction changes matters when an opening needs a quick response. This is a better fit for players who enjoy gradual familiarity and short return visits than for those expecting every moment to introduce another tactical idea.

Strengths

  • Distinctive fantasy presentation gives repeated runs a recognisable character.

Weaknesses

  • Limited variety between encounters and a less agile change of direction in the inspected PS4 review.

Who it is for: Players who enjoy short arcade routines and gradual unlocks.
