About this game
Adventures of Lolo is a Wii U puzzle game centered on puzzle, maze, or device solving, rule recognition, and spatial or logical judgment. Compact stages add conditions and tighter constraints over time, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make its immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Graphics, audio, touch, or pointer feedback need to support decisions directly, while HD television output and the GamePad screen need to divide maps, status, touch input, and primary focus clearly. The genre-specific limitation is that limited explanations, input recognition, repetition, or abrupt difficulty can stall progress. Platform conditions also include GamePad battery life and range, shifts between two screens, loading, performance, and retired online and Miiverse services affect the current release. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features from other editions.
Collected in series
Adventures of Lolo turns small rooms into puzzles of routes, blocks and watchful monsters. Gather the hearts, uncover the treasure and find a safe way out. An enemy can sometimes become a useful obstacle or raft, so understanding the room matters as much as moving through it.

The original room puzzles endure, while Wii U Restore Points and GamePad play make retrying easier.
The native Wii U Virtual Console Adventures of Lolo preserves the NES game's fifty carefully designed single-screen rooms. Gather every heart, open a chest and reach the exit, but do so in the right order. Limited shots turn enemies into eggs that can remove a threat temporarily, block another hazard or become a raft. Boulders, bridges and changing enemy behaviour keep finding new uses for a small rule set. The best puzzles require planning rather than fast hands. Complexity builds across the castle, although a few new behaviours demand trial and error. Once every fixed room has been solved, there is no extra mode or changing route to add much replay variety. Lolo's animation has charm, while the room palette, ordinary enemy sprites and looping music are less memorable. This is an emulated NES release, not a Wii U visual remake. The actual platform advantage is convenience: Nintendo documents Off-TV GamePad play and Restore Points, allowing existing owners to stop or retry a hard room with less friction. Those benefits belong to the native Wii U listing, not a transferred Wii purchase running in Wii mode. New eShop purchases for Wii U have ended, so this score concerns people who already obtained the release.
Strengths
- Limited tools create ingenious enemy-and-block puzzles
- Fifty rooms introduce useful rule combinations
- GamePad play and Restore Points ease experimentation
Weaknesses
- Some new behaviours require trial and error
- Fixed rooms and no extra modes limit replay variety
- Colours and music are repetitive
Who it is for: Existing Wii U owners who want patient logic puzzles with convenient retries.
Play notes: Wii U eShop no longer sells new copies; this is not the older Wii version running in Wii mode.
