About this game
Abyss: The Wraiths of Eden is a PlayStation 4 puzzle game centered on rule recognition, spatial or logical judgment, and successive puzzle solving. Compact stages add conditions and tighter constraints over time, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Graphics, audio, and input feedback need to support decisions directly, while HD output, HDR or PS4 Pro modes, HDD streaming, surround audio, and television-distance interfaces need to preserve action, state, and text readability together. The genre-specific limitation is that limited explanations, input recognition, repetition, or abrupt difficulty can stall progress. Platform conditions also include HDD installs and loading, patch version, storage space, DualShock 4 battery life, PS Camera or PS VR requirements, visual modes, frame rate, and network services affect the current release. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.

Atmospheric underwater searching slowed by repeated scenes.
Abyss: The Wraiths of Eden sets a missing-partner mystery inside a decaying underwater city. Most of the time is spent identifying listed objects in dense still scenes, then using discoveries to open another part of the investigation. The circular PS4 cursor and confirmation button are straightforward, and the game imposes little punishment, making it easy to proceed at a personal pace. The Art Deco city and uncanny inhabitants carry the mood more convincingly than the voice performances or talking-head scenes. Its larger cost is repetition: the same hidden-object locations return, and the map does not offer fast travel, so moving between known rooms gradually becomes a chore. An optional domino puzzle and extra scenario after the main story provide some variety. This is a pleasant fit for calm object-search fans who enjoy a light mystery, but players wanting continually fresh puzzle ideas may tire of the revisits.
Strengths
- The underwater city supports relaxed object searching.
Weaknesses
- Repeated search scenes and absent fast travel create friction.
Who it is for: Casual players who like calm object searches and light mysteries.
Play notes: PS4 release; expect repeated returns to familiar scenes.
