About this game
7 Blades is a PlayStation 2 fighting game centered on move inputs, offense-defense reads, and character matchups. Short bouts use character differences and rising difficulty for variety, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Animation, hit feedback, and readable arenas create match tension, while 3D scenes, streamed data, cinematics, surround audio, and interlaced television output need to preserve action and state readability together. The genre-specific limitation is that button mapping, move recognition, multiplayer accessories, and cpu behavior can affect balance. Platform conditions also include DVD loading, the 8MB Memory Card, analog sticks and pressure-sensitive buttons, Multitap, Network Adapter, dedicated peripherals, and retired online services affect present-day use. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.

Distinct heroes enliven action constrained by its camera.
7 Blades builds a comic period adventure around a swordsman and a gunfighter whose paths intersect. Their weapons and engagement distances give the two campaigns a meaningful difference, while blade properties and limited ammunition add decisions within the crowd fighting. Expressive character moments and cinematic scenes give the journey personality beyond its enemies. The action nevertheless repeats, and there are few new goals once both stories are finished. Camera handling is the largest practical obstacle: locking on depends on seeing and facing an enemy, so being pursued demands deliberate camera correction. Occasional slowdown adds friction in busy scenes. Players attracted to exaggerated samurai-film spectacle, and willing to manage the viewpoint themselves, have the strongest reason to explore both characters.
Strengths
- Different heroes change the approach to combat.
- Character animation and voices convey comedy.
Weaknesses
- Facing-dependent lock-on and camera friction.
- Limited post-completion goals.
Who it is for: Players who enjoy comic period action and crowd fighting.
Play notes: Original PS2 release; active camera adjustment is important.
